Nintendo Switch HDMI port and dock retimer chip repair from $79. Mail-in service for Switch, Switch OLED, and Switch Lite.
Nintendo Switch HDMI / Dock Repair from $79
The Nintendo Switch can fail to display on a TV for two distinct reasons: a broken HDMI port in the dock (the most common), or a blown HDMI retimer chip on the dock board (also common, but pricier). We fix both at our Port Orange shop with mail-in service from every US state.
Switch HDMI / dock repairs start at $79 for the standard port replacement. Retimer chip repair runs $109-$149 depending on the model. Every repair carries a 90-day warranty and includes free return shipping.
What Breaks & Why
When a Switch docked to a TV shows no signal, flickers, or has distorted display, the fault is almost always in the dock — not the Switch console itself. The Switch uses a USB-C output to the dock, and the dock then converts that to HDMI for the TV.
Two common failure modes:
- HDMI port pulled out of the dock. If someone yanks the HDMI cable hard, or the dock gets knocked off a shelf, the HDMI port can crack. We see this as a clean port replacement.
- HDMI retimer chip blown. If the dock stopped working after a power surge, or the HDMI port was hot-plugged repeatedly, the retimer chip can fry. This requires both port AND chip replacement — more expensive but a permanent fix.
- USB-C port on Switch side broken. Less common, but if the Switch’s USB-C port is broken, the dock won’t get a signal from the Switch. We replace Switch USB-C ports for $109-$149.
How We Fix It
Switch HDMI repair is two-part: we test the dock and Switch separately to identify the failed component, then replace it. Most cases are dock-side (port or retimer). Repair time is 90-180 minutes.
Mail-in: ship the dock (and Switch if the dock tests fine), we diagnose free, send a firm quote, you approve, we repair. Total turnaround 5-7 business days door-to-door. Local drop-off is often same-day.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does Switch dock HDMI repair cost?
Standard Switch dock HDMI port replacement is $79. If the retimer chip is also blown (common after power surge or repeated hot-plugs), it runs $109 (chip only) or $149 (port + chip). All include free return shipping and 90-day warranty.
How long does Switch HDMI repair take?
Most Switch HDMI / dock repairs are completed in 1-3 business days after approval. Mail-in total turnaround is typically 5-7 business days. Local drop-off at our Port Orange shop can be same-day.
Can I send just the dock without the Switch?
Yes — if the Switch itself is fine, just send the dock. We test the dock independently and confirm the fault before charging. Most customers with older Switches and intermittent dock issues find the dock is the only thing that needs repair.
My Switch shows on the handheld screen but not on the TV. Is the Switch broken?
Almost certainly not. The Switch’s handheld screen uses a separate display circuit. If the TV shows nothing but the handheld works, the fault is in the dock (HDMI port or retimer) or in the Switch’s USB-C output. We test both and tell you which.
Is it worth repairing an old Switch dock?
Yes — a new Nintendo Switch dock costs $90 ($60-$90 from Nintendo or third party). $79-$149 repair is roughly the same as replacement, but you keep all your existing accessories and dock customization. Most customers prefer repair.
Does the Switch OLED dock use the same HDMI port?
Yes — the OLED Switch uses the same dock as the original Switch (with the addition of an ethernet port and 4K output support, but the HDMI port is the same design). Repairs are the same.
